Meeting - Genetics in the function of efficient and profitable pork production

On 12th September in Novi Sad, at a conference organised by the GENUS company (PIC), the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vojvodina, and the British-Serbian Chamber of Commerce (BSCC), discussions revolved around the development of business cooperation in the field of pork production.

Dusanka Golubovic, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Serbia, emphasised that the agricultural budget is larger than ever before. Milorad Malic, from the Provincial Secretariat for Agriculture of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, spoke about the significance of new technologies in the agricultural sector. The conference was inaugurated by Bosko Vucurevic, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vojvodina. Also in attendance were Petar Orlic from the BSCC and Nikola Milivojevic from the Trade Department of the UK Embassy. Boris Berisavljevic, the Regional Manager representing the British company Genus PIC, addressed the conference participants.

The interest in this inaugural appearance of the world's largest company involved in the production and distribution of genetic materials in the field of pig farming was substantial. In addition to domestic companies, there were also representatives from companies in Romania and Croatia present. The presentations themselves were very topical, and the global approach to the issues in the pig farming sector was elucidated by eminent experts from South Africa, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, and Croatia. Over 40 participants paid close attention to the presentations and actively engaged in discussions.

The presence of the media was significant and will undoubtedly contribute to the dissemination of information related to the agriculture sector, which currently finds itself in a rather complex situation in Serbia.
